Just thought I'd include some tips for filling out the template to help you guys avoid confusion. Appearance: If you don't have a picture and choose to write this, make sure to keep it mainly focused on physical traits. Think of the hair/eye colors and height/weight as starting points. Some ways to expand on those: ~Does your character appear bulky and muscular or thin and bony? Talk about their body type. ~Faces can reveal a lot about the character. Describe the shape of their face and how prominent their features are. Do their feelings show on their face often? Are they usually smiling or frowning? ~Talk about clothes. Your character doesn't need to have one particular outfit that you need to describe in great detail--a general overview of their fashion sense will do. You can find reference for steampunk fashion all over the place if you need it, and for more historically accurate outfits, I'm rather fond of this site's photos. ~A more abstract description of what one might notice upon first seeing or speaking to your character can be helpful. Do they give off a friendly air, or are they stoic and intimidating? Do they gesture while they talk or are they more reserved? Personality: Don't underestimate this section--this is the most vital to understanding your character. Include things such as: ~Their primary motivations. You don't have to delve much into their history here, but explain--do they act the way they do out of a desire for money? Fame? Friendship? ~Their fundamental beliefs. Do they think people tend to be basically good or bad? Are they trusting of others or fearful that they'll be taken advantage of? Are family and friends important to them or do they find it better to be alone? Do they put priority on work or enjoyment? ~Quirks and minor parts of their mindset can be listed under the likes/dislikes/fears section, unless they're major enough to often affect their behavior. Likes/Dislikes/Fears: Treat these as the personality section in distilled form--a sort of quick reference for your character. List some of the key words/topics of their personality and include a sentence or two of description as needed. This is also the section to put odd bits that might not fit as well with the rest of their personality or that may only come up rarely in roleplay. Strengths/Weaknesses: Again, make like a list, and describe as needed. Think of strengths as their positive traits (or traits that could be positive if put to the right use) and weaknesses as their negative traits. This would be a good area to mention halcia ability, physical ability, or other such skills. Some traits can also be both strengths and weaknesses, depending--feel free to list one of those under both and describe their different applications separately. History: How did your character become who they are? Talk about their background, especially in terms of how it molded them. You don't need to tell their entire life's story, and yes, you can include 'spoilers'--every other character doesn't have to know all the information you put here. In fact, it tends to be helpful for me to gain a sense of where you're going with your character, the more information you include. Remember that you're writing this as an omniscient overview, not for another character or their society in particular. I hope this will be helpful for anyone that might have trouble figuring out what to write. If you have any specific questions relating to your character or their development, feel free to PM me. I might be able to offer some ideas and guidance.
